Festivals Prior to Galungan: Penyajahan

Penyajahan takes place two days before Galungan; it is the time of introspection for Balinese. In Penyajahan, families accustomed to make Balinese cake – jaja which are used in offering and snacks for Galungan; it must be sweet cake. All the efforts to make jaja by their own hand symbolize the attempt to create something sweet and valuable for mankind.
Customs and ritual in Penyajahan aim to make people have righteous knowledge (knowledge conceiving moral value). It is believed that good knowledge will lead to better world.
